Alectra V2X Pilot: Ontario’s First Bidirectional Electric School Bus Project
Alectra is advancing eMobility in Ontario through innovative solutions that help customers, fleets and communities transition to a cleaner, smarter energy future. Through its Alectra V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) pilot, Alectra is demonstrating how electric vehicles can do more than draw power from the grid; they can also support it. This includes Ontario’s first bidirectional charging demonstration with electric school buses, showing how buses can return electricity to the grid and serve as distributed energy resources.
The Alectra V2X Pilot brings together industry partners to advance bidirectional charging, fleet electrification and grid flexibility in real-world settings. Supported by Natural Resources Canada and the Independent Electricity System Operator, this project contributes to practical, scalable solutions for Ontario’s transportation and energy future.
