Truth and Reconciliation at Alectra
Text

Alectra recognizes that reconciliation is not just a concept. It is an ongoing responsibility that requires action, accountability and meaningful relationships.

As a company operating on the traditional territories of Indigenous Nations, Alectra acknowledges our role in advancing Truth and Reconciliation and commit to working respectfully with Indigenous Peoples in all areas where we operate.

Furthering Indigenous partnerships and reconciliation

Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations

PAIR (Partnership Accreditation in Indigenous Relations) is a certification program offered by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business (CCIB) that assesses and confirms corporate performance in Indigenous relations. It provides a framework for companies to improve their Indigenous relations policies and signals their commitment to Indigenous communities.

Alectra is actively participating in the PAIR program. We have completed Phase 1 of our PAIR journey offered by the CCIB, marking an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to building meaningful, respectful, and mutually beneficial relationships with Indigenous communities. We are actively working on Phase 2, which will deepen our commitments to reconciliation in 2026, before moving to Phase 3 implementation.

Through PAIR, we are demonstrating our commitment to advancing reconciliation, economic development, and social responsibility. By fostering positive Indigenous relations, we are seeking to contribute to the social, economic, and cultural well-being of these communities.

Doing business with us

Alectra’s Procurement and Supply Chain teams are currently exploring Supplier Diversity practices, including identifying opportunities to increase access for Indigenous owned suppliers and examining the establishment of a supplier database that identifies supplier diversity groups, supporting more intentional procurement planning and Indigenous business development.

Through its subsidiary, Alectra Energy Solutions, we have and continue to undertake endeavours to include Indigenous participation in proposed utility scale projects. We strive for a true partnership, which includes equity participation in the projects; scholarships for community members looking to enter the energy sector; employment opportunities on the projects themselves; and equal board representation in the joint proponent corporation(s) for the projects.

Community Engagement and Sponsorships

Through our AlectraCARES Community Support Program, we invest funds into Indigenous communities and charities through local donations and sponsorships. We also contribute to community-led programs and events.

Each year, AlectraCARES supports Indigenous owned or led non-profit organizations and focuses on helping meet immediate needs in the community. Our community support efforts include volunteerism and supporting charities and not-for-profit organizations that promote sustainability, diversity and community well-being. In 2026, we have supported several Indigenous-owned or led organizations and programming, including:

•    Odeiwin Foundation’s Connect Community Cultural Program 2026 in York Region
•    The Giving Tree Unionville’s Indigenous Canadian Library in Bradford
•    Indigenous Friends Association’s IndigiTAL Digital Literacy and Cultural Healing Program in St. Catharines
