Geri Yin is a well-established thought leader in the energy sector and currently leads Alectra’s Green Energy and Technology Centre (GRE&T Centre). In this role, she drives strategic innovation and fosters industry partnerships to accelerate the adoption of emerging, sustainable energy solutions. Under her leadership, the GRE&T Centre is advancing utility transformation and modernizing the grid to meet evolving customer needs.
Geri has been with the GRE&T Centre since its inception in 2019, initially serving as Head, Grid Innovation domain. She has been a driving force behind several of the Centre’s award-winning initiatives, recognized by leading industry organizations including the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA), the Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP), Electricity Canada, and Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Before joining the GRE&T Centre, Geri served as Director of Business Development and Sales at Alectra Energy Solutions, where she led commercial strategy development, economic evaluation of investments, and stakeholder engagement. Earlier in her career, she held senior leadership roles at Hydro One and Scotia Capital, overseeing a wide range of business operations and strategic initiatives.
Geri is widely respected for her expertise in utility business model transformation, grid innovation, regulatory affairs, and strategic and financial planning. Her insights and leadership have helped shape forward-looking approaches to the energy transition.
In recognition of her contributions to climate action and clean innovation, Geri was honoured with the 2024 Clean50 Award. She also contributes to the sector through active involvement in industry associations and currently serves as Vice Chair of the National Electricity Roundtable.
She holds an MBA from the University of Saskatchewan and a Master’s degree in Energy Sector Leadership from the Schulich School of Business at York University. Geri also holds professional designations as a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
