Hamilton neighbours feel supported by Alectra employees

Hamilton, ON – Alectra employees came together to show their care and support their downtown neighbours at Wesley, a social service organization that helps people struggling with poverty and is working with community partners to address the root causes of homelessness.

Through Wesley’s annual Christmas & Holiday Program, Alectra employees raised funds to put together 40 support packages for adults, children, families, newcomers, and isolated seniors struggling with poverty. Valued at $40, the packages included hygiene products, winter apparel, and easily transported food items.

“Our team was looking for an opportunity to give to those less fortunate, especially during the winter months,” said Henry Winter, Vice President of People and Safety at Alectra Inc. “We are proud to support an organization that truly understands the needs of those in distress, specifically around our John Street location.”

“Hamiltonians truly want to help people,” said Jennifer Baillie-Rouse, Resource Development Manager, “and Wesley welcomes this generosity. In addition to funding this program, Alectra has provided our fall dinner for clients and recently gave to Wesley’s Special Care Unit, which provides supportive harm reduction housing.”

Packages funded by Alectra were delivered during a winter storm, a difficult time especially for those facing hardship, to individuals who access Wesley across from John Rebecca Park.

The AlectraCARES Community Support Program promotes community well-being by funding charities and non-profits. To learn more about how Alectra puts people first, visit alectra.com/alectracares.
