Mississauga, Ontario – Alectra Inc. has been named among the top three companies in Corporate Knights’ annual sustainability ranking.

Corporate Knights released its annual Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada list, which highlights Canadian companies that are top sustainability performers. Alectra earned the third spot on this year’s list.

The criteria for the Best 50 Corporate Citizens list is based on Corporate Knights’ acclaimed ranking methods that uses 17 key performance indicators (KPIs) in the categories of resource, finance and employee management.

Alectra achieved a 19 percent reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions measured against its 2016 baseline. This was achieved by:

  • Implementing a no-idling policy
  • Increasing the number of hybrid and electric vehicles in the fleet
  • Improving the energy efficiency of office buildings; and
  • Replacing eight boilers at its Guelph office with four energy efficient units

“We appreciate this recognition from Corporate Knights,” said Brian Bentz, President & CEO, Alectra Inc. “Our focus on sustainability is consistent with the values that are embodied in the Alectra brand and we are very happy to be included in the ranks of these top performing Canadian companies once again.”

The information that makes up the Best 50 Corporate Citizens is collected from public companies that disclose their environmental, social and governance data.
