Alectra’s grid investment in Brampton

Brampton, ON – Alectra Utilities is addressing increasing customer electricity demands by reinforcing its power grid in Brampton. In 2023, Alectra is investing $18.7 million in Brampton to construct and renew infrastructure. 

With parts of Brampton`s system reaching the end of its life cycle, renewing the deteriorating infrastructure is necessary to maintain reliability. This series of infrastructure upgrades will stabilize the existing system and reduce outage impacts in the community. 

In 2023, Alectra plans to continue to invest in capital renewal projects across Brampton, including: 

  • $9.2M to renew infrastructure including switchgear equipment, poles, and transformers in Central North Brampton 
  • $2.3M to renew old infrastructure on Hansen Road 
  • $4.3M to rehabilitate underground cable at Bovaird-Dixie-Queen-Hwy 410 Brampton, Kennedy-Wanless-Main, Bovaird-Dixie-Queen-Hwy 410 
  • $1.7M to construct new feeder lines on Egress Salvation Road to Wanless Drive, to accommodate growth and development 
  • $1.15M to upgrade net new automated devices for faster restoration in Central North Brampton
