Enabling Grid-Ready Fleet Electrification

At the same time, utilities are adapting to serve a new category of customer, one that introduces larger and more variable electricity demands and often requires additional capacity on accelerated timelines aligned with vehicle delivery schedules.
AlectraDrive for Fleets is designed to help both customers and utilities address these challenges. By providing knowledgeable guidance, responsive technologies, and access to targeted incentives, the program helps fleet operators build the confidence needed to move forward with electrification. At the same time, supporting customers through this transition and demonstrating the benefits of smart charging enables Alectra to manage demand more effectively, reduce the need for infrastructure upgrades, and limit broader system impacts.

About the Program
AlectraDrive for Fleets illustrates how utilities and fleet operators can collaborate to explore the transition to electric vehicles. Supported by funding from Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the IESO Grid Innovation Fund, the program serves as a demonstration platform for approaches to fleet electrification in a manner that is mindful of grid capacity.
Through the program, Alectra works with participating customers to assess infrastructure requirements, consider charging strategies, and review potential opportunities related to grid services. The initiative also provides an opportunity to apply educational materials and advisory services in real-world conditions and to gather insights that can inform future program offerings and system planning.
Participation is open to fleet charging locations within Alectra’s electricity service territory. Interested parties can review the eligibility criteria and submit their information.
